I'll be on radio again Sunday night. The show is called Left Hook. The host, who is quite young, started a liberal talk radio show on a conservative station. Got to admire his gumption. Also got to give credit to the program manager for taking the chance. Anyway, he invited me to be on a couple weeks ago after hearing my comments on a Christian radio program. I sounded like a liberal to him. Ahh, that's because I was talking to Evangelicals. What will I sound like when I'm talking to liberals? Probably like a conservative. We'll see. I find that I'm a bit of a contrarian, but that isn't the only reason I'm too liberal or too conservative depending upon the company. I honestly think the message of the Gospel is prophetic and reformative for any political party. It has something to say to liberals, and it has a message for conservatives.
For example, I'm sure that as a pacifist, I sounded like a "liberal pansy" on the Christian talk show. But conservative Christians need to be reminded of the pacifism of Jesus and the importance of not embracing an ethic of violence. As a consistently pro-life Christian (no death penalty, no abortion on demand, no euthanasia), I'm sure I'll sound like a strange critter on liberal radio. No death penalty? Hmm...that's good. No abortion on demand!? What? It will be an interesting evening. The host told me he wants to discuss separation of church and state and gay rights for sure. After that, it's wherever the conversation and the callers lead.
Anyway, if you're interested, the show will be on from 6:00-8:00 p.m. CST on WKY, AM 930 in OKC. If you're outside of OKC, you can listen online here. Scroll down to near the bottom. On the right side of the screen is a WKY logo and a Listen Live link.
