Joe

I am going to name mine Al and I am changing my name to Sam Beckett

Greg Horton

April, no, you are! Joe, I suspect Leighton will be along soon with a Dr. Who reference.

Leighton

I'm trying to decide what I think of this. On one hand, I'm glad they're lighting their money on fire rather than channeling it to Republican candidates for federal office who plan to cut social services for the people who depend on them most. On the other hand, the facts that they are apparently--(a) so clueless about what constitutes human well-being, and (b) so unsophisticatedly vulnerable to fads like this--might, in the future, lead them to channel money to Republican candidates for federal office who plan to cut social services for the people who depend on them most. So, on balance, I will have to say this seems like a bad idea.

I didn't think of Doctor Who on my own, but now that you mention it, David Tennant's "If they live because of this, then life is worthless" rant from 2x01 New Earth seems like it fits this church's twisted understanding of community.

Todd Littleton

Leighton,

Love the Tennant quote.

I just can't get over how huge these multi-site pastors. I mean, to have a fleeting thought of making a 3D version of yourself is one thing, but how do you actually follow through with it - you know, find the perfect technology, allocate the budget money, have it all be installed in the church sites... without a self-reflecting moment of "hey, maybe I'm taking myself a little too seriously"...? It's pretty amazing, really.

Greg Horton

April, this deserves a fake conversation. Thanks for the inspiration!

Zossima

Have mega-churches beaten (no pun intended) "the world" to 3-D porn?

Plano Michael

He's so in love with himself. I was dragged up there last year for some event. He's just dripping with aberrant tendencies.
