I'm trying to read Da Vinci Code, but I'm stuck in chapter 6 (out of more than a hundred chapters I think--they're short). It's so boring. Reading it is like pulling myself along the ground with my fingernails. Katherine Neville is so much better at writing faux-historical mystery/thrillers.

Leighton,
Try Angels and Demons. It is the prequel (if I remember right), and I thought it was better. It has been a few years though, so I could be wrong.

Leighton

Meh, most everyone I trust has panned Angels and Demons as even more painful than DVC, at least if you care about details like Italian and Latin being wrong when they're important to the storyline, or worse yet, the science being bullshit. I can only suspend disbelief with things that aren't central to the plot; it's a character flaw.

Leighton,

I've heard the same about Angels and Demons. I did make it through the DVC, mainly because I didn't expect too much from it. I found it entertaining. Perhaps my standards are low, but I did find it worlds better than Left Behind.

Leighton

Oh, I've no doubt of that; DVC may be mediocre fiction, but Left Behind is a collection of hate crimes against native English speakers.
